Travel agency professionals, influencers and national and international journalists are interested in discovering and promoting new sustainable tourism products, services and experiences in the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees.
On 9 September, the Tourist Board actively participated in the Desti’Durable (Sustainable Destination) workshop, organised by the Catalan Tourist Board in Barcelona. This event gathered a dozen French tourism agents and operators specialising in sustainable tourism, including Alma Mundi, Déclic Évasion, Evazion, Kit Voyages, Les Planeteurs, Quartier Libre, Vision Éthique and Voyages Rubio. After the workshop, the French agents continued with a programme of activities and visits to various sustainable destinations in Catalonia.
In addition, ten journalists from domestic media outlets specialising in tourism and travel participated in a meeting organised by the Tourist Board in Barcelona on 17 September, where they learned about new sustainable projects and new ecotourism products that the Girona province offers its visitors. Highlights included Ecovall in Vall de Núria, visits to the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, and proposals from the Costa Brava Association of Diving Centres, as well as presentations of major ecotourism companies, products, and services that are a benchmark in the sector.
Finally, in Girona, on Thursday 18 September and as part of the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona festival, we collaborated in the organisation of a conference on cycle tourism and mobility, aimed at around eighty professionals from the world of cycling, the tourism sector and mobility. The session, which featured prestigious speakers, dealt with essential issues for the future of the sector, such as destination planning and management; cycling routes and areas; trends and demand profiles in cycle tourism; challenges and opportunities for companies; and marketing, commercialisation and the hybridisation of services between cycling brands, businesses and companies providing activities. The day ended with a fruitful networking session.
The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board continues to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility with the publication of specific articles on its blog, such as “Discover the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees by bus”, “8 ways to discover the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees by tourist train”, “10 car-free trips around Lloret de Mar”, “5 ideas for discovering the Costa Brava without a car around Platja d’Aro this summer”, “7 car-free trips around Roses” and “5 car-free getaways from Barcelona”. During the autumn, new articles will be published with proposals for activities that offer responsible transport and mobility alternatives for visitors to Girona’s destinations.
